VETERINARY SURGEON (posted 20.9.24)
We are looking for an additional full-time experienced vet, who is confident with small animal consults and all routine and emergency surgery in a first opinion setting. Although the practice workload is 80% small animal, we love being a mixed practice and so the successful applicant would also have an interest in horses and farm animals, and be able to join our 1 in 6 out-of-hours rota covering all species.
A part-time position would also be considered, with a focus on either small animal (consulting, medical cases and/or surgery), equine and/or farm work, and would include a share of the out-of-hours rota (back-up provided if needed).
There may also be an additional position available for a new or recent graduate from Spring 2025 when we move to brand new premises in Peebles, with the opportunity to develop in all areas of mixed practice with a VetGDP mentor and full back up after joining our out-of-hours rota.
What we offer:
full time 4.5 days (37.5 hours) per week, or part time wokring
salary range £32-58K (including payments for nights on call and call-outs)
1 in 6 out-of-hours rota for nights and weekends (with 2 full days off after a weekend on call)
30 days annual leave (increasing to 35 days with long service) including bank holidays
autoenrolment pension scheme with 4% employer contribution (increasing to 5% after 12 monthsif you wish)
private health insurance after 6 months
enhanced maternity and sick pay policies (increasing benefit with long service)
RVCS, VDS and one other membership paid eg BSAVA, BVA, BEVA, BVCA
healthy CPD budget by negotiation up to and including funding a certificate after a few years
